This happens to me dozens of times a day -- I often hold down the shift

The current version of DemocracyPlayer in the repo is 0.8; the official
version is up to 0.9.6. It should be updated to the current version, as
there are major fixes between these versions.

show-stopper bug (renaming a photo after importing it makes it vanish)
that is fixed in the beta. Which means that potential digiKam users
should have the option of installing the fixed (but very hard to
manually install) beta, which is why it's a bug in Ubuntu
