I think this bug affects me, but it is inaccurate to ascribe it to any
single program. I have had the problem with: Gedit, Dia, Transmission,
and Pithos to-date.
Thus, it seems more like a compisiting/window manager or Unity bug than
it is a bug with a single program...

for the record, i can no longer add anything to this bug, as we have
moved from an HP810C w/print server to a Brother HL-2170W w/built-in
networking. The new printer has been working flawlessly (with the
Brother drivers).
The issue with the older printer was unresolved.

i have been trying to reproduce this bug consistently for several months
and failing. just today it happened again -- twice:
1. suspend laptop via lid close, disconnect power, resume on battery. laptop
immediately resuspends.

I believe this is a duplicate (excuse if anachronistic) of bug 183033,
and is still present in later versions of the kernel
If so, it is NOT simply cosmetic -- upon resume from suspend, cat
/proc/cpuinfo | grep MHz indicates that one cpu is scaling while the
other isn't. My power consumption
As long as this issue exists and no ugly fix works, suspend is unusable
and pointless, as using it is self-defeating with the extra heat and
power consumption upon resume.

for a fix on this issue and also for the official hdparm decision. in
the mean time, if you are running 8.04 and/or pm-utils, then the
following post contained a fix which has worked for me so far as a
temporary solution...
After disabling hardware scanning, I believe this issue has gone away
for me. If others can confirm whether the following fix works for them
vs modprobing:
create and edit the file --
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/iwl3945
add the following to the file:
alias wlan0 iwl3945
options iwl3945

this might not be fixed --
when I first boot, I have .gvfs file in my home directory.
if I try to load audio data into Audacity, it fails halfway through and
the .gvfs file disappears. All programs that depend on the link fail
(so far, Audacity and Brasero).

Dell XPS m1330 on Ubuntu Hardy 8.04
can confirm after resume from suspend, Network Manager detects wireless
as a wired network. Disabling networking via right click on nm-applet
in the system tray resets the status and allows proper detection as
wireless.
No modprobe necessary.

secure wireless network is established. i believe the standard behavior

I am NOT running powernowd -- I am using ondemand directly via and made
permanent via sysfs.conf
I can confirm after resume from suspend, CPU1 is locked at its maximum.
This is not a cosmetic bug, as powertop reports ~3-4 watts greater

The ugly fix does not work as modprobe -r acpi_cpufreq is not allowed:
FATAL: Module acpi_cpufreq is in use.
The bug is not cosmetic as my power usage jumps 3-4 watts (from 13 watts
to 16-17watts) after resume from suspend.
Resume from hibernate does not reproduce the
sudo modprobe -r acpi_cpufreq is not allowed, requiring full reboot to
fix cpu scaling
