I find the bug is still reproducible. anything that causes firefox to rebuild
it's plugin database after libmoon is installed causes it to crash. libmoon
doesn't seem to trigger a rebuild normally. the gnome integration plugin and
mozplugger seem to, I'm not sure what else might.

I have an Acer Timeline 5810TZ and the only differences I'm seeing is
that I have bios version 1.33 and clean update from the current daily
and the bug completely freezes my machine not even allowing me to adjust

Lucid with current updates shows the same behavior as karmic on my
5810TZ. When I use the brightness buttons on the arrow keys, the
brightness shifts with the first tap of a key and then the system
freezes completely.

implemented was essentially a model number check. as I mentioned acer
makes and produces newer gateways. it would not surprise me if they had

BACKLIGHT_CONTROL native" will make screen brightness work (if not
perfectly) when entered. it is not persistent and needs to be reentered
on boot either manually or by setting it as a startup process.

the second third and 4th attempt worked. first attempt I noticed some scratches
on the disc after it failed to mount.
1st attempt using the Eject cdrom command and then inserting a disc gives an

press physical eject button, tray opens, insert disc (tried blue man
group audio cd, road to perdition DVD, Red alert 2 game cd, and karmic
beta live disc from which I installed), close tray, drive spins up for a
short time, no auto prompt appears, go to computer and attempt t
my friend has one. we'll be testing it later this week as well as
checking xrandr screen rotation. I'll post back by friday at the latest.

Having used Karmic yesterday after installing on my 5810T I found it
still would not properly mount CD/DVD media.

the milestone simply indicates that they hope to have a fix in by the
beta release(a development milestone release). It could be in a daily
build this weekend, or prove difficult enough to fix that it misses the
milestone. Time will tell.. I'm hoping for this weekend.

this was encountered on a HP pavilion tx2500 series tablet with an ATI
graphics card. as it is not mmy computer I cannot currently test any
further. however, other users in the ubuntuforums report similar live
disc issues when using some ATI cards. I will try to reproduce this

I can confirm this on a Acer Timeline 5810TZ in both Jaunty and Karmic
alpha 5. same proposed fix works in both, though not well.
