This also happens to me in Ubuntu 12.04. Empathy doesn't remember his
position and always restarts on top left corner with loosing it's last
position and window size.

Possible reason:
Another user told me today that he can confirm this bahaviour. This
happens because chrome/chromium seems to start downloading the selected
file immediately as background task while the save to dialogue is shown.
In this case there's already write access to the standard download

Its frustrating to see this bug is still alive. I would be happy if

It's also happening in ubuntu 10.10 and firefox 3.6.11 and thunderbird
3.1.5 with the new radiance theme. in chromium for example it works
fine...
