Yes. booting with i915.modeset=1 after quiet splash makes work the
live cd. And the installed system too, even if with some crashes, for
example when you try to play a video, or when it just happens at random
times. In my Travelmate 243LC (VGA compatible controller: Intel
Corporation 82852/855GM)

here we are again.
the bug comes back with release candidate. after 7/8 minutes of boot process
display off, the system seems dead, except for the fan, impossible to collect
informations.
