When the Gnome is started, the wallpaper is loaded, but during all
applications are loaded the wallpaper is replaced by the background
color. I understand it has something to do with
[needs-packaging] Gestikk
gestikk is an application for nearly all netwm-conform windowmanagers
(written in Python) that recognizes predefined mouse gestures and
executes defined actions. For example, with gesture “down - left” you
could run Firefox or simulate the keyboard shortcut Alt
I just found Easystroke and that works even a lot better. This request
can be closed or maybe you still want to package it. Sorry for the extra

I can confirm this with the same chipset. On Hardy it works with the
live cd, but after installation there is a black box around the mouse
pointer leaving a sticky trail. Intrepid shows the same, but locks up
after a few secs or clicking or moving the mouse to the edge of the

I can confirm this. Properly because of the disk activity, the CPU is
going to 100%, until you close Firefox (takes also a while before it's
actually closed). It just started yesterday, out of nothing. I tried
everything to find the cause of it:
I'm working in Kubuntu Hardy KDE 3.5.9.

I uninstalled (purged) firefox--gnome-support and xulrunner-gnome-support
I cleaned the cache, history and such
Restarted X
All had no results. Still at 100% CPU and a constant working hard disk.

The splash screens are found in:
/usr/lib/openoffice/program
There you will find the Kubuntu splash (intro.bmp) and the Ubuntu splash
(openintro_ubuntu.bmp). The latter one is used.
So to fix it:
sudo cp /usr/lib/openoffice/program/intro.bmp
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/openintro_ubuntu.bmp

I installed ubuntu-desktop and loaded Gnome. It's indeed working in
there for 90%. Back in KDE it is still a problem, but why I noticed is
when you select the whole document text, it works both in Gnome and KDE.

No I don't use compiz or similar. My card can't even handle that (on
board 2D). I even try to disable as much fancy stuff as possible.
I attach my xorg.conf and after that I try it again and will attach
Xorg.0.log after (properly) a hard reboot.

the middle mouse button (is there a name for this great unix/linux-

When I start an Wine application; an .exe or kust wineconfig, the whole
system freezes up.
I did a rm -r ~/.wine , but still the same problem. Maybe related to
another bug I reported: bug #132000.
