There seem to be several similar-but-not-identical
I've upgraded to the latest Ubuntu (8.10) on my Thinkpad G41, and the up
and down volume buttons now trigger XF86AudioRaiseVolume and LowerVolume
respectively. So that works. However, the mute button seems to ALSO
trigger the XF86RaiseVolume event, rather than some sort of mute event
as it should
Or it could be that he fixed it by independent efforts as he suggested.
Many other people have identified this as a problem, as well. Perhaps
it warrants more investigation? At the very least I'd like to know how
Matt fixed it...?

I can also confirm this bug on a Thinkpad G41. Volume controls worked
fine under Gutsy with thinkpad-keys, but stopped under Hardy. This is a
definite regression.
I tried all methods listed in the wiki and got absolutely no response
from the volume buttons.

problem. I have a Thinkpad G41 running an up-to-date fresh install of
Ubuntu Hardy (with a few small config tweaks). My laptop reliably

installing Ubuntu Hardy, I found a similar problem. Upon resuming from
suspend-to-RAM, a rather loud nasty sound comes from the speakers for
maybe 0.2 sec or so. This was definitely not a problem before

1. Used synaptic to install debug symbols. I wasn't sure which to add, so I
