Ah, no sweat. Thanks for looking! I should really spend some time actually investigating the problem in an in-depth, technical fashion. I'll go ahead and file a new bug report, along with whatever I can figure out about the issue on my computer. There seem to be several similar-but-not-identical

I've upgraded to the latest Ubuntu (8.10) on my Thinkpad G41, and the up and down volume buttons now trigger XF86AudioRaiseVolume and LowerVolume respectively. So that works. However, the mute button seems to ALSO trigger the XF86RaiseVolume event, rather than some sort of mute event as it should

Hi! Sorry I haven't updated for a while. The answer is, I upgraded to OpenOffice 3.0.0 Beta, and the problem was fixed. Of course this is useless for trying to discover the cause of the bug, but at least it means that the problem is apparently already fixed upstream...? Anyway, I'm a little bus

I can also confirm this bug on a Thinkpad G41. Volume controls worked fine under Gutsy with thinkpad-keys, but stopped under Hardy. This is a definite regression. I tried all methods listed in the wiki and got absolutely no response from the volume buttons. My system: IBM 288679U ThinkPad G41
