I installed the unity desktop environment and logged in after reboot.
After clicking to open the Dash menu to see installed apps there are NONE?!
I realize that Unity isn't really up-to-date anymore, but it should at least

I downloaded the iso using a torrent and as I started the installation
it crashed with an error saying that the medium is broken.
The USB stick used as an installation media works just fine with Windows
10 and Mageia (RPM based distro), but burning any iso of Ubuntu over
16.0
I downloaded and checked the iso once again and it was deemed OK.
Still this issue appears only with this version of Ubuntu back to 16.04.
16.04 works just fine.
If the USB stick works otherwise just fine to install either Windows
and/or Mageia there has to be something wrong with the installer

Sounds like different bug indeed. For me it hangs pretty much
immediately after GRUB and I don't even see the plymouth screen with the

This kernel (4.13.0-36.40) hangs for me as well, but it's much earlier
in the boot process so it doesn't even get to the point where it would
ask me for my dm-crypt password. The fallback image (4.13.0-32.35) boots

If you for example open a random video clip on svtplay.se and play it it
works fine, but as soon as you use ffmpeg based on this command from
pirateplay.se it ends up with a HTTP 404 error.

I haven't made any special settings since I installed Xenial 16.04 LTS,
but as soon as I put my mouse pointer on the title bar of Hexchat to see
menus there's no menu appearing at all.

I have now installed Xenial to my laptop and the issue seems to be gone
as I didn't have to use my workaround this time.

Nouveau driver seems to be broken on standard installation of Ubuntu
15.10.
The only solution is to blacklist the driver in
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf and then run:
echo options nouveau modeset=0 | sudo tee -a
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf && sudo update-initramfs -u

I have the model from Asus called N550JK and I have the exact same
problem.
My fix was to add blacklist=nouveau the kernel boot line.
Is there an ETA on this fix?

It seems like I got the zlib installed for both architectures. I was
told by http://developer.sonymobile.com/knowledge-base/open-source/open-
devices/aosp-build-instructions/how-to-build-aosp-marshmallow-for-
unlocked-xperia-devices/ to install the 32-bit package as well.

I made a file by dumping an epk-file with hexdump and as I wanted to
open the file with gedit it worked fine in the beginning, but then gedit
seemed to run out of memory and therefore crashed, but no crash reporter
could load.

&& sudo update-manager, but no newer kernel was installed.

The only way for me to be able to send this report in for the nouveau
driver module is to use the proprietary. If I switch back to xorg
version of nouveau I won't be able to use any terminal as the keyboard
stops working when the computer freezes.
