Hello, I haven't made any progress in solving the suspend issue. I'm a bit lost in all the packages that are involved in the suspend/resume procedure (udev/hal/pm-utils/apci/etc) and which are (partially) phased out in Ubuntu. If you can suggest me things to try, I would be very grateful. best

You're right: I should have MOVED them, instead of deleting. SO: if you have problems with the display size of your screen when moving from metacity to compiz (as described above), try to MOVE the directories mentioned above by renaming them. Gnome will then generate fresh directories for you
