no, but I am behind a sonicwall firewall with packet filtering. That can
cause latency and has been known to crash programs in the windows world..

They have a fix for this bug but do not include it because it does render
the OS unstable when applied.

It will never be a fix, the ATI SB450 is an AC97 codec chipset designed for
windows. Its a super crappy sound card, Ubuntu purposely will not fix this
because when its working it makes the system unstable.

I have a Toshiba a105-s171 with the same issue. its like my hard drive
goes to spin down every 10 seconds and then comes back up again. this
causes the machine to act jerky. I think a configurable power
