Aha, looks like I still had some DBUS-using plugins enabled,
For me Kupfer seems stable now with basic functionality, since disabling
all the included plugins that use dbus.
So the workaround is to ensure all of the following are disabled:
Empathy
Gajim
Getting Things GNOME
Gwibber
Gwibber (Simp

Still an issue for me, seems to cause a crash with rhythmbox now though.

There is a hack to enable ONLY the discrete video card in ASUS ULXX-VT
models, which might be applicable to some similar hardware here;
Changing the SATA operation mode in BIOS from "enhanced" to "compatible"
has the side effect of completely disabling the Intel card, and enabling
the nVidia g210m
This BIOS setting has the same effect under windows7 - the Intel card
disappears from the device manager.
So I guess this bug is a problem of the ASUS-provided BIOS
Unless there is some way of improving the performance of startup and
suspend/resume to accomodate this setting.
