The computer is question is not mine, but I can attest that the problem
was occurring for all the postscript files on the computer (not a
specific one), so giving an example file would not be very helpful - if

Problem solved :
After re-installation of Ubuntu 8.10, sound happened to work.
It seems like this was a random bug (interesting though..)
I therefore did not need to apply the workaround listed here.

Hi,
I don't have the file here right now, but it is a valid postscript file
that Gimp (and ghostview) are able to open.
The problem doesn't occur only for this file, it occurs for all
postscript files on that computer.
