I've encountered the issue and to solve it I just run the next command:
# sudo rmmod b43 sudo rmmod bcma sudo rmmod wl sudo modprobe wl
sudo modprobe lib80211_crypt_tkip
It seems that b43 or bcma are collisions to the wl module.

unable to boot after install on 2013 macbook air

I have a MacBookPro11,1 (specific configuration is 2.6 i5/8GB/256-Flash)
and using the standard (not mac) 14.04 ubuntu img results in the exact
same behavior as above. I.e. I can boot from usb successfully but when
booting the installed system the sequence stops immediately after the
point where
It just happened to me. Clicking the top-left icon (the one that opens
the dash, as if you had pressed the Meta key) fixed it. Can't say yet
whether it's consistent.

I suspect this has something to do with Nvidia's driver since I switched
video card to ATI and the issue ceased so please share your video card

I switched to using zramswap-enabler instead of a real swap partition it
makes things a lot better if you have the ram..
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:shnatsel/zram sudo apt-get update sudo

terminals (and text boot screen) are still broken
this persist in the also in the 173 driver version.
