And this log I was lucky to get when the system in not completly
freezing on lid opening (no messages from kernel in this case, just dies
completely). So this is what kernel says when I'm opening lid, system
still working, but display is turned off and no button except 'power' is
working:

Back from vacations and it's looks like the issue is not or not entirely
in kernel.
I'm back to 3.13.0-24-generic and just installed gnome-shell 3.12 and
the problem is gone. I can now safely close and open the lid.

So, i found the problem.
New Indicator use icons to present the current keyboard layouts. So, if i use
other icon theme - there is no such icons. Thats why no indicator is shown.
Simple solution just copy /status/22/ keyboard icons into your theme folder.
But i think, it's a bad idea to use

Same issue, but at the beginning it works as expected. After some installations
(latex, gimp, inkscape, qt etc) is won't showing anymore. The process is there
(indicator-keyboard-service), the checkbox is on (in dconf too), but there is
no indicator.

I think my issues are related with this bug.
I have two layouts: German and Russian. After logon indicator shows the German
layout as expected. But the actual layout is English (US). It can be tested on
Z and Y keys. In German layout they are swapped in comparison to English.

broken in 13.04 - it has several lost dependencies (marked as null in
