support for our sound card thanks to a newer alsa sound driver (1.20) coming

There's no way I can put more things on in alsamixer when I use my =auto
configuration. When I tried your configuration there was more
possibilities and channels in alsamixer but then no sound at all. Can
you please write a step by step how to from the begining to the end with
everything one must

I have added the line, Bob Wya mentioned, on my Acer Aspire 8920G and
still no sound at all. It appears that alsamixer now have more functions
but that's all, still no sound and headphones switch on alsamixer does,t
move. Can you please, Bob, explain step by step process to get happy

I use Ubuntu 9.04 final i386 and this is my recognised sound card

The only way for me to get sound on Acer Aspire 8920G is to add this
lines to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
# Added by myself
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel model=auto
And then maximise everything in alsamixer and gnome volume manager.

Since months we are trying to resolve sound problem on Acer Aspire 8920G
laptops. It's High Definition Audio, 5.1 Cinematic Surround - Tuba.
Other models with the same sound card have same problem.
Till now, we found only temporary solution witch enable two front

Ok guys, after extracting LinuxPkg_5.11 and changed to that directory I didn't
fallow Ubuntu instructions and run install script like this:

After that I rebooted ones and then run fallowing instruction on screen:

5.1 doesn't work, only left right stereo speakers and headphones. It'
still better then no sound at all till we find full solution.

It work for me. Thank you very very s much.
I can hear music, great quality sounds, on integrated 5.1 speakers and my
headphones works too. I was around for few days installing new alsa from source
via scripts I found on forums and because of that I had to reinstall Ubuntu on
