- I disabled/removed the STA driver then
- over the weekend a belkin N300 usb wifi dongle plugged in and tried;
- I fiddled with dkms and tried to get the realtek module loaded; net results
same as with the internal broadcom (the realtek module was crea

following last post and past experience with 11.04 boot I decided to

- on 10/15 (+ or-) successful boots ONE is UNSUCCESSFUL (no mssgs

nm-indicator-applet disappeared from my notification area some time
back. I don't know exactly when, but I do remember it was initially

Scratch last comment, I cannot get reliable behavior out of the USB 3.0
drive.
For the better part of the last month, it has seemingly mounted and
functioned okay. Until today, where, upon booting my workstation, I had

reduced substantially, HOWEVER - I still regularly experience "crunchy
sound", plus i still get the system log spam with blah blah blah

No. The port is a pure USB 3.0 port on a Western Digital PCIe expansion
card that came with the hard drive.
It's tested to work fine in Ubuntu Karmic and an earlier release of
Lucid (Beta 2 + some updates). I'm puzzled why it's broken again.

registered anymore.
System log gives no indication that plugging it in is even noticed by

"Since the latest updates (20th March), there is still a 20+ second
'hang' before the wallpaper appears, however, now the panels do not
load, but the desktop icons do. With no panels, Lucid is essentially
unusable. Have to use ctrl-alt-delete to restart."

Rebooting system and attaching storage (WD MyBook 3.0 1 TB external hard
drive, attached via USB 3.0 connection. Drive attaches, mounts and
transfers data fine in Karmic).

Same error in Lucid Beta 1 updated with latest patches. Unable to browse
my local network. Quite a bummer.

Lucid Beta 1, just installed yesterday on top of a Karmic 9.10.
I get a crash/quit on boot as well, for the followings applets:

Upgraded from Karmic (9.10) today.
Used update-manager -d. Update process itself went seemingly well,
however after rebooting, the graphical login fails to show a user
selection dialogue. All that is shown is the wallpaper (plus the

Got this bug today after applying recent Updates. Lucid ALpha 3. P5QPL-
AM motherboard, Intel chipset.
Tends to NOT happen when cold booting, but consistently happens on
reboots. Alt+F7 consistently a useful workaround. (Thanks!)
