It still crashes even if pstate is disabled. Now I do not know what is
going on anymore. This issue never happens in windows. So it definitely
is not a hardware issue. When music is played when this happens the
music loops to the last few seconds endlessly until I hold the power
button.

set the max_cstate to 1.

Ubuntu Operating System software crashes when SearchMonkey is allotted
with search-terms containing lesser than 3-4 characters (depending on
system configuration). This freezes Ubuntu Kernel (which I believe
happens due to high priority threads to unnecessary processes created
I surmise that it reports 1024 (or 1000) times more size than the
original file size information. Also, that sometimes causes Ubuntu to
hang as SearchMonkey searches within files.

@brad-figg: I ran the command you asked me to. I was able to
successfully launch vncserver and run apport-collect in that. I presume
the command failed since it showed a backtrace in python and a long html
output. dpkg also warned me that package 'linux' was not found. I'm
