Not only that, when upgrading to Ubuntu 14.04 I had a complete clean
install of my Linux (for unrelated reasons). But just to make sure,
after that I did purge and install GIMP again to make sure.

I can confirm this bug for Ubuntu 13.04, Firefox 26, with all latest
updates. Disabling the Unity desktop integration addon does not help.
