Updated my gutsy after release hardy and had the same problem discribed
here. rm the config file did the trick. Just as an after though decided
to post it here, so it can get fixed for others in the package.

Click update-manager in gnome-control-center or in gnome panel to
reproduce the error. Direct call from CLI doesn't work too (see

I started working for me with the some kernel-update. Unfortunately i
can't exactly state which one. The only think i had to do was use device
/dev/ttyS0. This may be a TC1100 only help, i would suggest you try to
cat the ttyS-devices to find the one your pen uses (Move the pen and if

I own a HP TC1100 with a inbuild wacom pen display. It uses a very
specific dirver, which only got activated in the very least version in
breezy and dapper (just before release).
It would be very nice, if the pen could get activated before that...
the driver was wacom_acpi.
