While I can't say which change fixes the issue, with the updated
packages installed, I no longer encounter a deadlock when running

Originally, when we ran a 32bit mallocstress under a 64bit kernel on an
ARM fast model, mallocstress would deadlock (even with relatively small
numbers of threads and loops). Will Deacon looked into this, and saw
that all threads were waiting for the same futex. We believe the non-
atomic eglibc lo
I had an issue with mallocstress deadlocking, but this was solved by the
patch listed in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/+source/eglibc/+bug/1091186
I don't know enough about glibc to say if this is related or not.

I disabled hyperthreading in my system BIOS and the program did not
crash during video or image manipulation as it had before. Of course,
this is not a permanent solution, but at least the software can be used.
BTW-- I may be using either 1.0.0 or 0.1.5 (I compiled from source using
