options snd_hda_intel model=laptop
options snd-hda-intel position_fix=1 enable=yes
to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
on my NV53 running Lucid.
Doing so restored the internal microphone to normal. Fixed in Skype as well.

After apparent installation, acroread will execute. However, the app
does not appear in the menu structure.
