I just tested your kernel from post in #12 using virtual machine in
virtual box so I could take snapshots before and after. With your kernel
my cifs mount in /etc/fstab works fine. Without your kernel i get the
same failure as above with this message:
CIFS VFS: Error connecting to socket. Aborting
Yes, this stalls my work flow several times daily as I access files on
our primary office file server which is Win/Samba.
