Ok, I see now. Snap-store is available and functional, but in a hacked
version, only available via the docking. Using Lubuntu on regular PCs,
which is way more user friendly than Ubuntu.

On a PC, snap-store has to be installed via snap. According to the RPi
system, snap-store is already installed after installing snap. No icon
available in GUI. Starting snap-store via terminal generate the error

I agree that signing packages already solves most of the security
issues, but I was genuinely surprised to just realise that Ubuntu isos
are downloaded via plain http by following the recommended links on the
official Ubuntu homepage.
(most non-technical users aren't going to verify their iso!)

- checking /var/log and updating /etc/default/grub
- using current ppa (binary and source)
- using older nvidia drivers
- removing all display related drivers
- downloading and installing from nvidia
