Perhaps I can shed some more light on the subject, since my last post.
1) I have checked both CD's, Live and Alternative for download checksum errors.
Both CD's are error free!
2) I re-recorded both ISO's at 1 times speed
3) The above mentioned bug relates to using a 2nd HDD for the placement

2) Ubuntu then starts loading, (the orange bar fills in from left to right)
3) The screen goes blank, some reading of the cd still takes

I'm sorry I did not know I was to respond to this thread here, instead I
responded via email.
I carefully noted all the events in that email, I don't have a copy.
briefly: acpi=force did nothing to help me boot Ubuntu.
