And same here, trying to use the radeon driver -- just upgraded from
12.04 to 14.04. I tried installing drivers from the following PPA
https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/graphics-drivers -- no improvement
as you can see. I am not running in a VM.

Currently on kernel 3.9.4-030904-generic and I just had this lockup
again. Is there anything else I can try, debug info I can give?

I'm not sure if I'm experiencing the same bug or a different one. I'm
using Lucid. I have the GM45 chipset.
I first noticed bad performance in a game after an upgrade. I've since
tried a lot of different kernel versions with these results:
2.6.32-36-generic -- fine
2.6.32-37-generic -- fine
Any idea what you did? I'm experiencing this on my desktop machine (but
not on my laptop... both are 32-bit karmic). X crashes as soon as I run
any X app (xclock, urxvt, xterm...)

Like you, I found this problem unbearable -- I don't feel comfortable
unless the letters are exactly 1 unit wide, 2 units high.

there is a much newer version of mpdscribble being actively developed at
http://git.musicpd.org/cgit/master/mpdscribble.git/ which has a very
recent release of version 0.14. having had a quick look through the
source code, it appears to be
in my case (Logitech Internet Navigator, plugged in with PS2 -- not all
the buttons used to work when it was plugged in with USB), the buttons
are doing the wrong things. in particular:
media does what back should do
mute does what messenger should do
stop does what volume down should do
shopping
confirming -- same problem. i'm running Kubuntu.

i'm on 32-bit Hardy.
for me, the applet wasn't starting. i had both sun-java6-plugin and
icedtea-gcjwebplugin installed, and the Icedtea one was overriding the
Sun one.
i first tried removing icedtea-gcjwebplugin, which made the Sun plugin
active. trying the applet again caused the browser to

sounds like Ubuntu can't access your motherboard's ACPI functions
properly, and that's nothing to do with this.

i have access to four machines running Hardy: 32-bit Kubuntu, 32-bit
Ubuntu and two 64-bit Ubuntu machines. all use the restricted Nvidia
driver.
the only one which doesn't exhibit this shutting down problem is the
32-bit Ubuntu machine. the other three stop when shutting down or
restarting if
i agree that it would be nice to see ioquake3 packaged up nicely.

i haven't tried using the --display option, but with Evince running on
one screen (say :0.1) when i try to run Evince on the other (:0) it
