Been testing further. Based on errors relating to apparmor tried
complain mode for libvirtd followed by reboot and completely disabling
apparmor. However no difference and these messages are still in the
logs.

This used to work fine, and seems to have stopped with latest patches as

If user does NOT want to share their main calendar, but has, in my use-case
created an extra calendar for team use and shared that, I have not managed to
make it visible in Evolution unfortunately :(

I'm not a hw expert, but i guess it's digital out (I have analogue speakers).
But I'm 100% sure I haven't done anything with this setting before - and
it's a single-user computer.

11.04 with INTEL GMA4500 chipset. Some screensavers also seem sluggish
as mentioned by others. CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE to restart X solves the

I've done some more testing and it seems to be the RAM related. I had 2
x 2GB sticks (DDR 2 800, PC 6400) installed in ganged mode. Removing the
stick closest to the front of the machine makes the machine stable
again- it's runs happily at full load for extended periods and
continuously for 2 days

Did you buy another Shuttle SN78SH7- therefore confirming that it was
the hardware? Or did you buy a different type of machine- and therefore
it could still be software based? I am suspicious of the integrated
NVidia 8200 drivers, and wonder whether to test with another video card

Markus- thanks for your feedback, certainly it does not sound as if the video
card will solve the problem. Mine is less frequent than yours though- perhaps
once a week, but the symptoms sound the same.
I have tried CPU burn and run Memtest overnight and this works fine which made
me doubt
I have the same problem- crashes with random coloured screen, need to
switch off at power socket on wall to reset.
So far I have not found an obvious trigger, but could possibly be load
based as stated above.

I was having the same problem with this error message.
Here's what I was able to do to solve it:
I went to System, then Administration, then Disk Utility, then clicked
on the drive, then clicked on the blue link that says: /media/disk
Pulls it right up and I was able to access all my files on
HP Laserjet 4 printer has only parallel and serial ports. It does not
have native USB port. I am using Prolific Technology adapter cable that
has parallel connector at one end (which is connected to parallel port
on printer) and USB connector at other end (which is connected to

Seems indeed to be some timing issue, because when running FF/SF from
the icon in menu/docky, it never appears, running just swiftfox/firefox
command from terminal 99% of the times produces error message and no
program running,

I just upgraded to Jaunty today and I had the same problem with System
Testing crashing. It would only run if I ran it as root from the
command line. I replaced the /etc/checkbox.d/checkbox.ini file with the
one Dave Murphy suggested and the program works fine now. I am using
x64 architecture

downloaded msn-pecan from homepage, extracted libmsn-pecan.dll from
installer using 7zip, copied it to PidginPortable\App\Pidgin\plugins

Using the search dialog in Rhythmbox results in very slow response (sometimes
complete hang), and 100% CPU utilisation. I have approx 9000 tracks (60GB) of
mp3 registered.
The problem is the same whether you search by All, Artists or Albums.
I upgraded further to Hardy Heron some time ago, and the problem went
away. I guess the new release contained all the fixes. Thanks!

I have this issue (8.04). I did not have it in previous releases 7.10, 7.04.
CPU goes very high.
Very noticable with dirs of 1000+ entries.
Affects Rhythmbox, Firefox and Nautilus to a lesser extent.
Please re-open and fix. This is a serious issue.
Is it related to the 25 year old BSD bug?
Regarding the previous post- Perhaps I am writing junk- rereading this bug
suggests that this issue is from way back and probably completely unrelated
to the BSD link I added.
Nevertheless the issue remains on Hardy for me.

My upgrade from Feisty to Gutsy (based on alternate install CD) crashed
somewhere with a blank screen, and I had to reboot the system.
Restarting the system causes the same problem, saying that greeter
application fails.
I also fixed the issue by replacing gdmgreeter with gdmlogin in the
gdm.conf
I am have the same problem , firefox freezes and i have to re set to get
it working again I do think it has something to do with flash plug in
...

Having the same problem in Edgy. Even root couldn't write CDs. But it
seems something (gnome?) is mounting blank images as well ( /dev/hdc on
/media/cdrom0 type iso9660 (ro,noexec,nosuid,nodev) ), thus umount
/dev/yourcdrwdevice fixed a problem for me.
