Title:
Resume
I've done some research for this bug and the previous report, bug
#405120.
The results are very predictable.
The bug is already fixed in Linux kernel packaged for Ubuntu Quantal (version
3.4.0 at that time).
---
Why is it already fixed there?
The patch fixing this issue has been merged in Linux

Resume from suspend
Bob Bib, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to
make Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because, as per your test
without a workaround of the latest development version of Ubuntu -
Quantal Quetzal, the bug has been fixed.
This is a significant bug in Ubuntu. If you
Christopher M. Penalver,
do you have any more suggestions?

Bob Bib, regarding your mainline and Quantal tests, did it work without
using i8042.reset=1?

Title:
Resume from suspend doesn't work for Acer
After reading some articles from the wiki
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend), I've executed that
TRACE_RESUME procedure about 25 times.
The results are rather fuzzy, most times there were no matches for a magic
number in dmesg output; the resultative strings are given below.
---
I've tested the mainline kernel from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/daily/current/
(I've installed installed it on the currently affected Precise amd64 system).
---
$ cat /proc/version
Linux version 3.5.0-999-generic (apw@gomeisa) (gcc version 4.6.3 (Ubuntu/Linaro
4.6.3-1ubuntu5)
I'll test the current daily Quantal ISO image a bit later, 'cause:
1) I don't want to have a premature breakup of my Precise system by upgrading
it to Quantal Alpha 1 version;
2) separate installation needs some free disk space;
3) it needs some spare time to install and play with it.
