Actually, now dpkg fails to do anything:
$ sudo dpkg --configure -a
dpkg: error: parsing file '/var/lib/dpkg/status' near line 18628 package

Title:
dpkg fails
I was able to workaround the issue by adding Multi-Arch: same to the
amd64 package entries of libsdl-net and libsdl-mixer in the
/var/lib/dpkg/status file.
I was then able to install the new dpkg and proceed normally. You might
want to try the same for libcanberra-gtk-module,
