I'm experiencing the same in Ubuntu 7.10 and every time I have had a
lock up it's been during horizontal scrolling in Firefox.

Since yesterday, I've been getting similar problems. Yesterday 1 lockup
and today 3 already in quick succession!
In my case, it seems to be a gradual lockup. Various programs still
respond to some mouse input, cursor keeps on blinking like everything's
normal, i can still switch tabs in FireFox.

I am having a similar problem. I sometimes lock the screen and leave the
computer running.
If I leave it like that for a long time, such as overnight, neither the mouse
nor the keyboard work.
So I have to do a hard reboot. I don't have any crash report in my
/var/crash directory.

There are 2 crash reports, both are prior to the system hangs that I'm
talking about. The latest one was a crash in the Screenshot application,
which i reported.
Just a note, I was out of town from Monday evening until now (Wednesday
@ 1am), and sometime between that period, Ubuntu locked up yet
