I have a similar problem. I cannot connect to any wireless networks at
all, despite being able to see them. I assume this isn't related to
network management applications in my case since the problem is
consistent in wifi radar, network manager and wicd. The networks

I just realized, in that last boot I had hostap_pci blacklisted (to see
if it would use the orinoco_pci driver instead). This is the log
without it blacklisted.

Well, after much difficulty, I was able to upgrade the firmware to
1.7.4. Unfortunately, now feisty doesn't recognize the wireless card at
all. However, dapper does, with the orinoco_pci driver, and what's more
is that NetworkManager actually works now. So the new firmware seems to
work, but for

I'm not sure what you mean by scanning. If you mean being able to see the
available networks around me, that works fine. The problem is that I can't
seem to connect to any of them, except via the command line. That being said,
1.4.2 is the last version provided by IBM
(http://www-307.ibm.com
This card seems to be using the hostap driver with 1.4.2 firmware. Bug
#94885 reports that the firmware needs to be updated before wireless
scanning will work...

I also have this issue using the rt2500 driver to connect to a wep
protected network. the /etc/network/interfaces file contains the
correct entries for wlan0 but running sudo dhclient does not give me an
IP address. as a side note I also have two new network interfaces which
are wlan0:ava which ap
