This is a specific problem with the build of 1.2.6 released in feisty,
and cannot easily be solved in feisty without several other undesireable
regressions. This is fixed in audacity 1.3.2.

I have the same problem on Kubuntu 7.04, Audacity 1.2.6, I have tried
deselecting and reselecting the Mixer toolbar in Edit..Preferences, and
also View..Float and View..Doc Mixer toolbar. But the Record source
selection never appears on the Mixer toolbar.
