I have updated to the latest BIOS release for my machine, but the screen
brightness still does not change when I use the brightness controls (the
onscreen brightness "slider" moves, but the actual screen brightness does
not change).
The output from the "dmidecode" command is;

available for your BIOS (R0170D6). If you update to this, does it change
anything?
If not, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of
the following terminal command:
sudo dmideco
kernel-unable-to-test-upstream
Not possible to log into Unity using upstream kernel so cannot confirm
if bug is fixed or not.

not I've reproduced it below for your reference -
