Thanks for the update. It's hard to say if it's the new disk or the new
kernel which has resolved this issue. I'll go ahead and close this for
now. If anyone else has the same original hardware as Jesse and can
confirm this issue with Hardy, please reopen this report (ie set the
status from Fix
Since I change to another harddisk (also 13GB) and installed 8.04 ,
booting is very fast now.

Care to test the latest Hardy Alpha release and see if here is any
improvement? You can download and try the new Hardy Heron Alpha release
from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/hardy/ . You should be able to
then test the new kernel via the LiveCD. General information regarding
the release
Also just adding a note that this bug report will remain open against
the actively developed kernel but against 2.6.20 and 2.6.22 this will be
closed. Thanks.

The Hardy Heron kernel was recently uploaded for testing. We'd really
appreciate it if you could try testing with this newer kernel and verify
if this issue still exists. Unfortunately, the Hardy Heron Alpha1
LiveCD was released with the older 2.6.22 kernel. You'll have to
manually install the

Now that the 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon release of Ubuntu is out (kernel
2.6.22-14), we were wondering if this is still an issue? Could you
please download and try the new version of Ubuntu from
