I updated my 6420's BIOS from A08 to A19 and found the same behavior -- if the computer goes to sleep the X session accepts no mouse clicks, though the mouse pointer will still move. I can ctrl-alt-f6 (or f4 etc.) and get to a text console, log in, sudo, kill the active X session and log into the
