This is a perfect example of everything that's wrong with Ubuntu.
Throwing away a perfectly sane feature just to add an unwanted and
unnecessary extra way of doing something is just demented.
It just gets more and more unusable.
In 14.04 holding ALT activates something else and does NOT allow

the icons on the launcher. New functions should use new shortcuts, not

requires two hands to scroll with the mouse wheel instead of the old

In both of my computers auto scrolling moves the icons way too fast.
Changing mouse settings has no effect. Holding alt while using the
wheel works great.

When I changed the bug headline, I didn't fully understand the issue at
hand. I have changed it now to reflect mouse wheel and touchpad two
finger/edge scrolling.
Keep in mind that this behavior was changed due to the aforementioned
bug #1081843. It seems we have quite a few people who want

Currently there are three ways to scroll the Launcher:
- Click anywhere inside the launcher and drag up or down
- Move the pointer to the top or bottom of the launcher to scroll via the
auto-scroll behaviour
- Scroll the launcher with their keyboard by entering the Launcher ALT+F1
keyboard

aplication:

-- alt+`;
-- alt+tab and then with arrows;
-- click the icon in the launcher.
