Problem: typing skips.
I had an install of Ubuntu 8.10 and did not see a "typing skips"
problem.
I uninstalled Ubuntu 8.10 when trying to correct another problem (system
was not recognizing my wireless card).

Just flashed my BIOS and everything's working fine. System is
significantly faster in general. Checking System Monitor and it shows
far reduced CPU usage.
Leaving open incase there's any tests/clarification need performing.
Also because some other people have been having similar problems
Just been into the BIOS and changed the HDD Setting from "Native IDE" to
"SATA -> AHCPI".
XP won't boot with that enabled so I'd rather not have to change it
every time. BUT input devices have improved. Still far from ideal
though. Keyboard is still noticeably lagging and mouse isn't as smooth
