I'm using the 123B bios on my Compal HEL80. I just installed it on
Saturday. Prior to that I had been running the 122B bios since it was
released in July 2007. The 123B says it is an ACPIEC fix, though there
are no other details. It is only available on http://www.bizcom-

I would agree based on the "throwing away 2 bytes" part of that bug.
Also, I added "acpi_osi=Linux" in place of disabling acpi, and it makes the
problem go away. No other devices seem to be negatively affected, and nothing
weird shows up in dmesg.

Not to flood this thread, but this just happened to me after system
startup (when it has previously only affected me.)
I opened up a 30mb .avi file into the default movie player, and when it
fullscreened the mouse started jumping everywhere.

Hm, when I use regular usb and bluetooth mice I don't seem to have any
problem, it's only when I use the touchpad built into the laptop.

I think I know the same bug. The mouse pointer move itself to some of the
corners of the desktop and frenetically click either left or right button
while approximately one second.
I can add that the keyboard may seem to press itself some of the last "really
key pressed".
