'rm ~/.local/share/zeitgeist -R' fixed this for me as well. Was
experiencing exact same issue after upgrade. Could not rearrange,
unlock, or lock in the launcher. Removing the old zeitgeist files
crashed unity, but everything works once it came back up.

Same here. cannot delete icon with Unlock from Launcher option. I'm running
Ubuntu 14.04 64Bit. I recently deactivated zeitgeist as it was explained in

...and one last comment. When I log in to a Guest Session, everything
works fine. I think the problem may be some residual settings from my
/home directory, which has been left intact over several distributions.
I'm not sure WHICH settings (compiz?) but something there is interfering

Hi I just installed 14.04 yesterday (clean install, previously was using
12.10). I am experiencing the same issue. When I right-click on an item
in the launcher, I get the options (usually just the application name
and Unlock from Launcher but for example, with Spreadsheet, I also get
