Sean, i have to correct you:
My Xubuntu installation was a standard installation and i got Alacarte
and MenuLibre.
Could this please verify somebody (cause it was an beta installation)?

Greetings. If the application title is Main Menu, the application you
are running is actually Alacarte. This application was replaced by
MenuLibre for Xubuntu 14.04.
To verify, see if Menu Editor is listed in your Settings menu. When
you open Menu Editor, the title of the application will say
Ok, i was able to find and work inside of MenuLibre.
Cause i replaced the Whisker Menu with the (old) standard i thought the
Alacarte is still working in it.
So the option Alacarte in the settings menu should be deleted!
It is a great mess to have 2 different menu editors and Alacarte worked
