Openchrome driver in Gutsy (on in Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pro V2055)
Hello, I have a notebook type Amilo Pro V2035 and the highest resolution
I can get is 800x600 (I found that VESA is set in my xorg.conf).
I tried to install the packages
ibviaxvmc1 libviaxvmcpro1 xserver-xorg-video-openchrome
and run dpkg-reconfigure -phihg xserver-xorg and set both vesa and
I have a Amilo Pro V2030
It has a 1024x768 LCD and the VIA Technologies, Inc. UniChrome Pro IGP (rev 01)
(PCI-ID 1106:3344 )
the hardware detectiton of the install was not good. The installer chose
vesa @ 800x600
I did use a self-compiled openchrome driver on Ubuntu 6.06LTS.
Now on Ubuntu 7.10
Does know somebody situation about OpenChrome driver? I can not to use
any 3D applications. But I do not downgrading to feisty. Please help...

So, thanks for your answer. Now I will use only VESA driver, because
OpenChrome do not work correctly for me. VESA is more stable (incl. 3D
which is very slow, but stable...)... I hope, it will be correct in
future...

No. drivers from viaarena is unstable.
the best drivers are considered openchrome

# apt-get install libviaxvmc1 libviaxvmcpro1 xserver-xorg-video-

I use via in xorg.conf instead of recommended openchrome (gives me
an error about module can't be find).

So... this is working, but much much slower as VESA driver and very very
unstable (3D is not working correct and in 90 percent must I restart my
laptop ). Glxgears is OK, it is interesant... Openchrome was useful on
Feisty Fawn, but in Gutsy Gibbon is it not useful, sorry. I do not know
why... And

working too. But when I tried use VESA driver, my resolution is
supported (1280x800), so I can use it. But 3D acceleration does not work
for me. It is ugly :-(. FF was it in this issue much better.

I was using 7.04 there, I had to install drivers under management:

work GL.
after release beta 7.10, I saw too xserver-xorg-video-openchrome tried to put
it, but X not loaded. then I
