Having this same problem on a UEFI system with the ESP set to FAT.
It's been five hours now, no matter what I try I can't get Ubuntu to
install. Tearing my hair out.
Keep seeing the
/usr/lib/ubiquity/ubiquity/frontend/gtk_components/nmwidgets.py:131: Warning:

BUG IDENTIFIED;
Occurs when /boot is set to ext2 . Set to ext4 and install goes through.
ext2 for /boot still good idea, why ext4 journaling on /boot, keep as
simple as possible.

Everything is fine with disk space. 4GB machine with 250 SSD and I get the
exact same thing.
What should be mentioned is that I wanted to install over an existing partition
scheme
Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD sata
Once formated with opensuse leap 42.3 installer
509MB sda1 boot format
ext part
40GB
About the only thing I can decipher from this is that you have run out
of disk space.

HI Team,
I could replicate this issue today while I was trying to install the
last version of Ubuntu-64 bits on my personal computer.
I used the usb-boot for installing the system when the issue appeared.
