Vivid was only a tech preview of Plasma 5 and has reached EOL. Please
update to 15.10 or newer. Refile if this is still an issue.

I am having the same issue as Skyman.
Kubuntu 15.04, all updates applied.
VirtualBox 5.0.2.
Guest additions installed.
Wallpaper does not take up entire workspace area. It appears to be stuck at
800x600, in the upper-left quadrant.
Cannot bring up context menu with right-click, except within the
I see something very similar when changing resolution on a physical
monitor with xrandr. A monitor that supports 1920x1080 120Hz and
3840x2160 30Hz modes, so when watching movies I change the resolution to
1920x1080. An attempt to set wallpaper in that mode results in upper
left 1/4 of the image
Same thing happens when using Workstation 11. You can see on the
attachment how widgets slide off the desktop area when attempting to
move them around.

Additional information: It is not only the backgorund image that doesn't scale,
it is the whole desktop.
When trying to open the context menu this only work in the area where you can
see the background image.
