The same thing happened to me after the updates and I wasn't even
running the compiz effects.
What I did was right-click on the desktop, created a launcher with
"xterm" as the command. Following that, I doub

Confirmed, however, alt+f2 works for me. The panel is just "invisible"
before first mouse click.

Same for me. Happend one when 3D-effects were enable and disabled again.
Since 3D-effects were disabled, panel is back again.

I'm running Gutsy, and recently my taskbar (the bar in the bottom of the
screen) has stopped appearing on the desktop.
The settings are that it should always be visible.
The bar does appear - and then stays on the screen - when clicking with the
mouse on the space where the bar should be seen.
