Sorry, when I say does not cover I should say does not appear to
cover. The term.log is confusing and has at least some corruption. So
it is possible that you have attached the right files but I would like
you to confirm the times for me.

The dpkg.log you have attached does not cover the same period as
term.log.
Could you please tell us at what dates and times are involved in the
failed upgrade shown in term.log, and provide the corresponding parts of
dpkg.log* ?

Well, those are the only files in the /var/log directories. I can only
provide what Ubuntu does. :)
Regarding the dkpg.log files: dkpg.log.1 appears to be an old file for
sure.
dkpkg.log has two sections of time:
line 1: 16:53:39
line 312: 17:47:48
If I remember correctly, 16:53 would be
There were two dpkg.log files. I will attach both.
Is my system unusual? HW, not really. It was having very frequent
reboots under Win from either a failing MB (long term exploded
capacitors) or faulty power supply or both. It may also be the video
card as well. It doesn't like extensive 3D
And on a side note, I looked at the logs myself. Apparently, the
upgrade didn't finish because of a 240s timeout on the terminal. Is
this expected behavior?
I personally feel that it isn't good if it is. I expected to be able to
walk away and come back to an upgraded system, or have it fail

Is there something unusual about your system ? Is it normally reliable
?
The log seems very odd. Either the log is corrupted or something very
strange is going on - almost as if you had two copies of dpkg running at
once.
You didn't remove any lockfiles or touch anything in /var/lib/dpkg, did
Thanks for your bugreport.
Could you pleae attach the file /var/log/dpkg.log to the bugreport? This
may give us some more information on what exactly went wrong during the
upgrade.
THanks,
Michael

I've attached the logs that the crash recommended that I include. I
think that the update failed as a whole, as it didn't reboot and instead
just disappeared from the desktop. I'm not sure if this is
reproducible, or not at this point on my installation.
