Ok,
it did recognize the drives and the controller but it just didn't format
correctly my partition on the sata drive. it just stood at 0% for hours (!!)
and then I did reboot. (it did write correctly the partition table).
I should say that this controller is pretty weird ;-)

I did try on Ubuntu 6.06 with 250Gb disks and I got the same result. Error on
LBA48. Tried again on 7.10 and the same.
Nothing works.
Right now I'm installing Feisty 7.04.
Tried to compile Sunix driver (the one from the card manufacter) for
kernel 2.6.15 (so Ubuntu 6.06) and It did compile,

I got this problem and my SATA card is Initio INIC162x too.
The problem is in the Ubuntu 7.10 kernel, it got sata_inic162x, but it is
disabled, according to dmesg, it shows that LBA48 is not working so disabled
the drive.
