nvidia-glx-legacy is in fact just a driver for legacy nvidia chips
(71-series driver). It does not in anyway provide drivers for the chips
that are supported by the drivers that are in the nvidia-glx package (96
series driver). Looking at the other packages in the Gutsy repository, I
do not think
The problem is that the package nvidia-glx-legacy PROVIDES nvidia-glx,
so it cannot be installed alongside nvidia-settings. The simplest
solution would be to modify the nvidia-glx-legacy package so that it
does not provide nvidia-glx anymore. I don't know if this may create

can confirm this problem on fresh gutsy Installation (not upgraded) with all
repositories in sources.list enabled.
nvidia-settings (1.0+20070502-1ubuntu2 (gutsy) says it RECOMMENDS
nvidia-glx-legacy and CONFLICTS with nvidia-glx and nvidia-glx-new, so it's
apparently only there for
