not refreshing list is usually a driver issue. most likely thats fixed
for you in intrepid.

OK, before leaving to the office i did what you said,
sudo killall NetworkManager
sudo modprobe -r ipw3945
sudo modprobe ipw3945
sudo NetworkManager
Then i started loggin tail -n0 -f /var/log/syslog > /tmp/syslog
walked 4 block with my laptop powered on (no suspend no, hibernate)
When i got to
Now it's working fine it took some seconds after the restart to refresh
the list but no more problems. Ill try my office journey scenario, for
now this is my syslog.
