This is happening to me in the Lubuntu 16.04 install. I'm installing from a USB stick. It's a 2008 Macbook with an aftermarket SSD that was wiped - not even a partition table. The "erase disk and install ubuntu" installation method gets all the way past partitioning and copying files, then fails
