All I can remember, is that I started installing Ubuntu on a laptop
where Windows XP was installed, the migraiton assistant came up, and I
selected my Windows user, and chose a corresponding name for a Ubuntu
user. After that, the user-creation screen came up, and I couldn't get
past that without
TerryG, migration-assistant handles the case of spaces or capital
letters already.
David,
Could you please elaborate on your problem, preferably giving a step-by-step
account of what happened? I'm afraid your current description does not make
much sense to me.

Triaged to Incomplete. It's possible that the Window user had spaces or
capital letters. Linux enforces lower case for users to reduce
confusion. If this is the case, then the Migration assistant needs to
send a flag to ubiquity about user name differences.
