You may also need to add 'smfp' to /etc/sane.d/dll.conf.
And check:
SANE_DEBUG_DLL=128 scanimage -L
to see a line like:
device `smfp:net;172.16.0.222' is a Samsung C460 Series on 172.16.0.222 Scanner
device `smfp:net;fddcb6f32fe0021599fffecdf33f' is a Samsung C460 Series on
For myself as well the C460FW was plug until 16.04++.
Now my workaround is to edit /etc/sane.d/xerox_mfp.conf and add add line:
tcp PRINTERIP 9400
and then it resumes working.

Oh, you're upset.
The last time I contacted Samsung over something, they guessed wrong and
it cost me 100 euros and the problem not resolved.
So you think that this problem has nothing to do with moving to 16.04?
Actually, loads of stuff broke on this machine and my server was bricked
by the
Paul Carmichael, after you contact Samsung about their driver not
working for you, please advise here on the details of the conversation.

16.04 sane no longer sees network scanner
To manage notifications about this bug
Paul Carmichael, as per http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product
/SL-C460FW/XAA there is a linux based scan driver for this device. Would
this provide a WORKAROUND?

Exactly. I didn't do anything on the linux box. Every machine on the
subnet could see it. The windows boxes still can. I presume the scanner
and printer interfaces are different protocols as the printer still
works fine.

Paul Carmichael, to clarify, in 14.04 was the Samsung scanner plug and
play, in that you didn't have to configure anything locally and plugged
in an ethernet cord and could immediately scan with Ubuntu via the
network?
** Description changed:
- 14.04 used to see and access my Samsung networked
Ok. It's a Samsung C460FW (standalone colour laser multi). Like I said,
14.04 would see it as soon as I opened xsane. I would be offered the
choice of the Samsung or the local Canon. As soon as I moved to 16.04,
it no longer sees the local Canon (separate bug), so it would have been
nice to have
Paul Carmichael, so few details were provided, it's hard to "understand"
what the issue is. ;)
For example:
1) What is the full printer manufacture and model? Saying it's a Samsung
networked printer is not enough information.
2) Did it ever work in 16.04, and then broke after an update?

16.04 sane no longer sees network scanner
To manage
I don't know how to re-open the bug. Somebody has not understood the
bug. It is not a "saned networked printer/scanner", rather a standalone
Samsung networked printer/scanner. I ran that apport thing and it came
up with nothing.
